Boom! Boom! Pow!

the 25 ft. dr. Pepper Gyser

the 5 inch Rook Gyser

I found my good camera!...it focuses! :)

We got one of those diet soda geysers because Molly is studing rocks and volcanoes in school and her teacher showed them this experiment using 7 mint mentos and any diet soda.  We elected Rook to pull the string.  It really did go 25 ft. in the air really quickly with a big boom!  Then Rook decided he'd try a little geyser himself...not successful :)  They wanted to know why?...I'm sure there is a big reason but I reminded them that with God there is always some mysteries.  He is there walking with us in all of them.  Sometimes we can't understand God's mysteries but He can give us peace and sometimes joy in the middle of them.
Romans 15:13 says, "I pray that God, who gives hope, will bless you with complete happiness and peace because of your faith.  And May the power of the Holy Spirit fill you with hope."
Rook is Googling the why about the Geyser....

Jesus Loves the Little Children

Molly and Jackson painting their Montana Landscape

We made Montana style spurs...

The Lawson Family- Missionaries to Montana

Big Finish...He's Got the Whole World in His Hands!
Wednesday nights you'll find me teaching Mission friends with the Cheek girls.  They are awesome mother's, wives, teachers, cooks, and they are crafty!  They are sister in loves and best friends.  It is really fun to teach with them.  This month we are learning about and praying for the Lawson family in Miles, Montana.  They minister to the cowboys their.  John 15:15 says, "I don't call you servants now.  A servant does not know what His master is doing.  But now I call you friends because I have made known to you everything I heard from my Father."   I'm so thankful that Jesus Loves the Little Children, and that He calls me one of his children.

Bluebonnets, bluebonnets with your coats of blue...

Texas's State Flower is called the Bluebonnet.  It only blooms for a month in the spring.
It is a wildflower, so sometimes if there is not enough rain they don't bloom.
See how each little flower looks like a bonnet?  The leaves look like a 5 point star.

Hurry...I'm getting itchy mom!

Really?...I have to get a picture?  I could only get one!  So, he's not looking...Oh Well
The one and only hill by where we live here in north Texas is covered with Bluebonnets this time of year.  We call the hill Mount Sachse.  It is also where we slide on our lanoleum for Texas sledding in the winter.  I try to take the kids picture every year in the bluebonnets.  When we lived in Alabama I missed seeing bluebonnets all along the highways in the spring.  Lady Bird Johnson had packets of bluebonnet seeds spread all along our highways in Texas.  So it is really pretty in some areas to see them.  I thought I'd share a truly Texas thing.  Isaiah 40:8 says, "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever."  I am so thankful that God gives us His word to help us understand Him and our life's purpose better through His everlasting, living word." My sweet friend Anna who was attempting to regain her speech from suffering Leukemia, and a usually fatal fungal aspergillius in her nevous system by learning the basic ABC's.  While struggling with those basics, she could still quote long passages of previously memorized scripture. Such as Phililppians 4 "Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, rejoice..."

If you haven't got a hay penny then God bless you...

James 1:27 says, "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this; to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."  Today was Poverty Sunday at our church.  Chad, our missions pastor did an excellent job, that was really heart wrenching, helping us to understand what poverty looks like all around the world.  It was a great opportunity to share and help as a family.  It is an honor to be Jesus's hands and feet to reach and minister to others.

Our T-shirt and necklaces made by widows in Africa
the brown is paper beads, the colored is glass beads made from the
broken glass found in the dump and then melted into something new
like the Bible says: "Beauty from Ashes"

Daysi, our World Vision girl from Ecuador.  This year
our church will have made 20 trips to Ecuador in 5 years.  I hope
our family can go and meet her someday.  Our church collectively
sponsored over 100 kids from Ecuador today.

Molly got a cup with the amount of food from Ethiopia,
Rook got a bowl of rice like the poor would eat in Ecuador,
Kris and I got cups from the Sudan.  It was thought provoking.

Rook was sad...in from of the shanti village, not excited about his food.

Let's go to McDonald's!

Who Let The Dogs Out...

Rook and his friend Austin both were top dogs
for their two classes for this 6 weeks
Rook's teacher said "He's such an amazing kid-He's funny, creative, insightful, respectful, which all come together to make him admired by his classmates as well as me.  I've truly enjoyed having him in class and getting to know him.

Maddie...the best dog I've ever had

Presley...who stayed in Alabama when we moved
with his friend named Banjo...on a farm

Zaccheus the wee little devil dog

I've always loved dogs, but married Kris the self proclaimed "Not an animal person".  I know that he really loves me because he has tolerated my love of dogs.  I love when he corrects and gets frustrated with our dogs because it sounds
like someone choking a goose.  His grandad would be so proud.  My first dog was Zaccheus, the wee little dog.  When gone to church, he ate through our laundry room door, and pulled my mom's curtains down and marked his territory with all kinds of presents...Then came Oscar the Wiener dog who got excited when people came over and would pee on their legs.
Sherman was next, the size of a bear cub, would jump on us when we tried to swim, and would howl when you'd sing, and could play hide and seek.  Kris bought me Presley, the Gold Retriever, when we moved from Alabama, he stayed to live on a farm with his friend.  Now there is Maddie.  Our friends gave her to us.  Molly dresses her up, Rook chases her, and she still loves us no matter what we look like or smell like.  She snores.
In the Bible it talks about dogs not eating Jezebel because she was so evil.  They are intuitive.  I'm proud of my top dog Rook!  Psalm 100 says, "Give thanks to the Lord for He is  good, His love endures throughout the generations.

Friends can turn things upside down...

I don't know how to make it not upside down...Waitress took it
I'm so thankful for the good friendships that God has provided me here in Wylie.  Some of them wanted to get together to eat for my birthday.  I know that Jesus had close friends that he kept in confidence and wanted to pray with him in at the garden of Gethesemane at his greatest time of need.  I feel like I have some midnight garden friends here.  I think I feel drawn to them because I see Christ in them.  They are willing to be discipled and taught.  They encourage and support each other.  They tell me the truth in love.  We pray together, enjoy each other's company and eat together!  There have been times when they have stood firm in Christ with me. Ecclesiastes 4:9 says, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their work: If one falls his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!"
I am thankful that I have friends who will help me learn the truth and let me know when I have panty lines...:)

Blessed Be Your Name...

Mr. John Hogue, Rook's Teacher

Rook Playing Kris's guitar...He Graduated

One of my favorite times of the week is Monday afternoon because it is Rook's guitar lesson.  He has been taking for 2 1/2 years now.  He is getting to the age where he is too cool to play for me so when Mr. Hogue comes I get to hear him really well.  They are learning 'Blessed Be Your Name'.  I found this prayerin a book called Prayers for the Moment that my friend Diana Mull gave me.  I thought I'd share it...
Be Their Way
Father, I'm praying for my children and others in my circle of friends who need you to show them what to do...
Your Word says you will...
lead us (psalm 78:52)
guide us (Psalm 31:3)
teach us (Psalm 132:12)
give us counsel (Psalm 32:8)
go before us (Psalm 59:9)
protect us from behind (Psalm 139:5)
and make a way for us through anything (Isaiah 43:19)
Help them to live close to you, reaching for your hand, holding onto you as the truth.  May they always desire to follow you closely, keeping in step with you as you walk with them through life, for then they'll never lose their way. (Psalm 84:5,10) In Jesus Name, Amen
Blessed Be Your Name In All Circumstances!

Matthew 6:33 "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all of these things will be added to you."
We had fun on our staycation to Dallas.  Lord, I pray that we will seek You first.  Because I know that when we do all of the other pieces of life come together.  I pray that you will help us to choose a simplicity of life that will allow us to be quiet in your presence everyday.  Just like St. Patrick.
