Since Monday, Kris and I have been in Eagle Vail Colorado to celebrate our 15 year anniversary. Mrs. Tibbals, a sweet Christian in our congregation, has a home here. She graciously invited us to stay here as a gift for our anniversary. It is snowy and beautiful. We have skied these first two days and we are off to find another adventure today. It is a blessing to spend time with my best friend. I almost ordered chicken nuggets at our last meal out of habit.
I am thankful for Mrs. Tommye and Mr. Jerry, Cha Cha and Big Bird, and Aunt Gina for helping and loving on Rook and Molly this week. A true gift and blessing to know that our kids are being cared for. I also borrowed clothes from Kellye and Toni, without these I would be a human popsicle at 11 degrees on the top of the mountain, my Scotchguarded jeans wouldn't have cut it!
"You formed the mountains by your power and armed yourself with mighty strength." Psalm 65:6

Our Rental car...the Yaris...It is hard to believe we are driving around in this stuff, when in Texas everything would be closed in this weather...The real adventure! |

You can't drive into Vail, you have to park (for $25), then walk, it looks like a Austrian ski village... |

My Ski Cat Daddy riding in the gondola to the top of the mountain to ski. |

I found a fire place and hot cocoa, to warm up while I checked in on the kiddos.. Hat hair! |

Our favorite ski place, Ski Cooper, no parking fees, you can ski right to your car, there are 2 lifts. I met an 86 year old man named George that was skiing! Awesome ! It cost a lot less to ski here and was easier for me, who hasn't skied in 12 years!
Ski Cooper is a 20 mile, winding through mountains drive, from where we are staying! Beautiful! |
|
My favorite run! Molly Mayfield...Ski Cooper was a training ground for ski troopers in the 10th Mountain Division, during WWII. They served in the mountains in Italy and were key in securing Northern Italy and stopping the advancement of the war. There were 992 men that died while serving in the mountains in Italy. Ski Cooper was home to Fort Hale. These guys were tough overcoming a lot of elements and scary terrain to defend our country. |
